Skate Jam for Steve

The skateboard contest being put on at Orangeville skateboard park on June 14 will be a “jam format “ competition, meaning that participants will have two individual 30 second runs followed by a “jam session” of 4 minutes in which they skate with the other competitors in their category all at once to try a variety of tricks without being penalized for incomplete tricks. The judges will then tally a combination of the individuals single best run out of two, and “jam” performance, with the highest total score being the winner. The judging format is based off a point system in which a maximum of 10 points can be awarded for individual runs, as well as a maximum of 10 points for the “jam”, Making the total the best score out of 20. Whoever has the highest combined score(best run and jam) will win in their category. Each category is broken up by age as well as an open category for highly skilled individuals who wish to compete against all age levels.

At the end of the competition there will also be a mini best trick contest, in which participants will have time to try their hardest and best tricks. Prizes will be awarded for the most difficult tricks. The best trick contests will also be divided into age categories, a youth category and open category, with voluntary participation to try their luck at winning prizes for tricks.

Participants in the contest will be split into categories of which are determined by age and skill.
12 and under
Open category (17+  as well as younger participants looking to compete against higher skill levels)
The judges will have four major criteria to be looking for while scoring the participants
The mini best trick contests will be judged by crowed reaction as well as judges and other competitors.
