#CanadaUnited, Welcome to our New Members, Ontario Women in Business Grant and more!

Hi everyone,   Summer is flying by and although some things have returned to normal, I know many of you are still working to recoup sales that were lost at the height of the pandemic, some of you are still operating with adapted business models, and others are branching out into online sales and new ways of doing things.  Wherever you are, please let us know if we can help along the way!   In recent weeks, we encouraged you to apply for the Digital Main Street Transformation Grant, and some of you have told me that you have already been approved for funding (so awesome!).   I have a few more funding opportunities to tell you about today, please get in touch if you would like to discuss any of these opportunities or ShopDowntownOrangeville.ca.  I’m happy to listen to any ideas or questions that you may have, and if I don’t have all the answers, I’ll put you in touch with someone who does!

Show Local Some Love.  That’s the message behind the Canada United campaign. Canadians are encouraged to show support for local businesses by shopping and dining local on the weekend of August 28th- 30th.  In addition, every time someone watches the Canada United campaign video, “likes” Canada United social media posts or uses hashtag #canadaunited on twitter, 5 cents will be donated to the Small Business Relief Fund. Small Business owners are encouraged to participate and spread the word about this campaign, that also provides grants to small business owners.  Please check out the small business toolkit here to download social media graphics, posters and more!  The Relief Fund will be managed by the Chamber of Commerce and grant applications are set to open on August 31st, 2020.   You can read more about the Relief grant here .

Please join me in welcoming our new business neighbours!   Many of these businesses opened just before COVID-19 hit, making their first few months in business extra challenging, so let’s show them some support by giving them a “Like” on social media or popping in to say hello.  Let them know, Downtown Orangeville is a great place to be & we’re SO happy they’re here!
