To all members,
It’s been a busy few weeks and we’ve been hearing from many of you with questions and comments about the Province’s Reopening Plan, the Town’s Sidewalk Reconstruction Project, the new Rainbow Crosswalks, & more!
I encourage anyone with questions concerning these topics and more to reach out to the BIA via phone or email, we are here to help & we welcome your feedback! If we don’t know the answer, we can usually direct you to the person or organization who does!
We would also love to have you join us at our Member Meet Up this coming Tuesday at 9am on Zoom! There is time at the beginning and end of the call to ask any questions and discuss current issues. Maybe you have a question about the Downtown Gift Certificate Program or have an idea for an upcoming event? All ideas are welcome, we hope to see you Tuesday!

**Please note that this survey is NOT related to the Boulevard/Sidewalk Reconstruction Project, but is equally important to the future of our Downtown!
The Town of Orangeville is embarking on a new Community Improvement Plan (CIP).
Your input as a business and member of the community will assist with identifying specific development and investment opportunities, and will help craft financial incentive programs to address the unique needs of Orangeville.
The survey will close on June 30th, 2021.

Rainbow Crosswalks
Special thanks to Capellaphy Photography for sending us this beautiful picture of one of the new rainbow crosswalks downtown!
June is Pride month, and the two rainbow crosswalks were painted as a visual demonstration of the Town’s commitment to improve diversity and inclusion.
Unfortunately, not long after the crosswalks were painted, one of them was vandalized. This incident was recorded on the downtown cameras and the OPP are using the footage as part of its investigation. We sincerely hope the OPP is successful in catching whoever is responsible for this crime. We agree strongly with Councillor Lisa Post, who chairs the Town’s Equity, Diversion and Inclusion Committee and says that every person has the right to feel safe and included in our community. “These two new rainbow crosswalks send a powerful message: Hate has no home here.” (Source: Orangeville, Ontario Facebook Page).
Are You Open on Sunday?
What does your perfect Sunday look like?
Sleep In
Go for Coffee
Shopping
Drinks on the patio
Or maybe it’s:
Wake up early
Attend a yoga class
Brunch on the patio
Browse the bookstore aisles
Whatever is on your Sunday to-do list, we want it to include Downtown Orangeville! That’s the message we’ll be sending with our new “Open Sunday” promotion, launching in a few weeks. Whether you are looking for rest & pampering, adventure, a getaway or some retail therapy, you should spend Sunday YOUR way in Downtown Orangeville!
And, most importantly, we want to promote YOUR business! Let us know if you are open Sundays by emailing ambassador@downtownorangeville.ca
We know that some of you are hesitant to open on Sundays, perhaps because it would mean that you need to hire someone for Sundays, shift schedules around, close Monday and Tuesday instead, or maybe you’ve tried it in the past and it wasn’t successful? Whatever the reason, we encourage you to do what you can to make it happen this year because the downtown businesses that ARE open on Sundays are reporting record sales and traffic on those days and the number one thing they hear from customers on that day? “Why aren’t more stores open? We want to do some shopping!”.
Mochaberry Coffee is one of the businesses reporting great sales on Sunday and Troy Brett, the owner, was gracious enough to provide us with a short video to explain why opening on Sunday has worked well for his business.

Have a great weekend!
