My Main Street Local Business Accelerator Program

The My Main Street Local Business Accelerator program has officially launched in the Town of Orangeville, with a full-time Main Street Ambassador offering support to new and existing small businesses in our downtown (Please note this is NOT the same role or person as our OBIA Member Ambassador, Julia!)

Orangeville is one of 65 southern Ontario communities chosen to launch the program, and the dedicated Main Street Ambassador will provide customized marketing research and data analysis, along with opportunities to apply for non-repayable funding contributions for small businesses.

We encourage you to arrange a meeting with the Main Street Ambassador, Christine Hann (some of you will remember her from the Digital Main Street Program) to find out how YOUR business can benefit from the resources available through the Local Business Accelerator program.   Contact Christine Hann at chann@orangeville.ca or 519-939-8106.

The program will run in Orangeville until February 2023. For more program details visit https://mymainstreet.ca/accelerator-program.

It's Patio Time!

Good weather is right around the corner (we promise) and that means patio season is almost upon us!  At its meeting on Monday evening, Council approved an April 1st start date for boulevard patios and May 1st start date for street patios (2 parking spaces max).

Town Planning staff are now accepting applications.  Restaurants interested in having a patio on public property this season, will find the relevant information  on the Town’s boulevard café webpage: https://www.orangeville.ca/en/doing-business/boulevard-cafes.aspx , or the individual documents can be found here:

Boulevard Cafe Bylaw

Before submitting your application, please ensure that it is complete and as detailed as possible.  Any missing information will cause a delay in processing your application. Please submit your completed application directly to the Town via email to planning@orangeville.ca

The application process shouldn’t take too long, especially if you are applying for the same sidewalk set up as you have had in the past, but it could take a week or more.  If you are experiencing delays or having any challenges in getting any information you need, please let me know I will do my best to assist.

Please note: There will be disruptions to the patios in the fall due to the sidewalk reconstruction.  As it stands now, the plan is to push the construction in the Second Street to Mill Street and Mill Street to First Street blocks as late as possible to minimize the impact on restaurants. Based on the information available to us now, each side of each block (e.g. south side of Broadway between Second Street & Mill Street) is estimated to take 3-4 weeks (depending on weather, etc.).

Our fingers are crossed for a warm spring so your patios are filled with smiling guests very soon!

Community Survey

The Town of Orangeville’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee (EDI) has developed a community survey as a way to better understand the experiences of local residents and visitors to our municipality. The information collected will be used to guide strategic priorities with EDI in the coming weeks, months, and years.

Please be aware that the content of this survey may be upsetting for some respondents as it may trigger some memories of difficult experiences. The purpose of this survey is to identify opportunities to make Orangeville a more inclusive and equitable place.

We ask that you please complete the survey by April 14th, 2022. Please submit one survey per respondent using one of the following methods:

  1. Online using This link to access the Microsoft Forms version
  2. Via Email to Sarah Alexander, Secretary of the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee to salexander@orangeville.ca .
  3. In-Person or by mail to Orangeville Town Hall, 87 Broadway, addressed to Sarah Alexander, Secretary of the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

PDF is available here for anyone wishing to submit the survey in person or via email. The survey can be found here.
