To all members,

Tonight is the night!  We are so excited to welcome back members of the public for the tree lighting event!   To those of you who have made special arrangements to stay open late to welcome shoppers until 8pm – thank you!! 

Huge thanks also to the more than 50 businesses who have signed up to help make the Joy Book promotion a success! We can’t wait to see happy shoppers & diners filling their books!

Here’s a quick summary of tonight’s events:

Joy & Lights: Friday November 19th

5:30pm – 8:00pm

Tree Lighting Ceremony – 6:30pm

  • Tree-side entertainment and lighting of the Town Christmas tree (see schedule below for special guests!)
  • Members of the public are invited to attend this year but please note that the roads will be OPEN to vehicular traffic and masking and social distancing requirements remain in effect. Please see schedule below.

Starlight Shopping & Joy Book Promotion Launch – until 8:00pm

    • We will be advertising Starlight Shopping until 8:00pm
    • We will be launching the Joy Book with a special “double your stamps”
    • We are asking businesses to consider offering a special promotion or activity to coincide with this event (ideas include a BOGO event, free cookie or candy cane, sale on a special item, free gift with purchase, food bank donations accepted, etc.) Email to or tag @downtownoville let us know about your promotion and we will share on social media!

The Joy Book is Here!

  • The Joy Book is launching today, Friday November 19th, in a special “double your stamps” shopping event. Tonight, from 5:00pm-8:00pm, make sure to stamp your customers book twice!  (Example: For a $10 purchase, give 2 stamps instead of 1.  For a $30 purchase, give 6 stamps instead of 3).

Georgian College Employer Incentive Programs - Free Online Information Session November 25th @ 11am

  • Are you looking for a co-op student? Help with hiring?  Want to know more about employee training grants? Did you know that government grants can fund up to 83% of the cost of upgrading the skills of your staff or provide hiring incentives of up to $8,000?
  • Georgian College Career and Employment Community Services is holding an information session about the Employer Programs and Incentives offered by Georgian College. This session will provide an overview of the available programs, which include help with hiring, accessing funding for new hires, grants for training employees, as well as information on hiring co-op students.
  • Date: Thursday, November 25th at 11 am (20-minute presentation followed by Q&A)

GO-VAXX Mobile Clinic

On Monday, November 22nd, Public Health will be holding a mobile vaccination clinic in the parking lot at 82 Broadway. A portion of the parking lot will be occupied by the mobile unit (a converted Metrolinx bus) from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. that day.  Please see photo with clinic location marked in red.  

First and second doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine will be administered throughout the day.  Anyone born in 2009 or earlier is eligible, no appointment is required.

Welcome to our Newest members!

This week, Wicked Shop Local opened its’ doors at 17 Armstrong Street!   It smells like heaven inside & they are stocked with so many amazing local treats for the Holidays!  Don’t miss their special offers during the Starlight Shopping event tonight!

Shwapp served up their first customers at their new location in the Old Mill Hub on Thursday!   Chicken Shawarma, Beef Gyro, Falafels & so much more!  Stop in for friendly service and a delicious meal!
