Downtown Orangeville Events Cancelled

Leading first with some not-so-great news today.  It is with a heavy heart that we must confirm today that due to COVID-19, the following events have been cancelled: Harvest Celebration, Moonlight Magic and the Tractor Parade of Lights.   The Task Force & BIA staff are working hard to come up with some safe and fun ideas, including colourful displays, special promotions, social media contests and more, to lift everyone’s spirits and mark the fall & winter Holidays in a new and exciting way.  Stay tuned for more details coming soon!

It’s beginning to look a lot like…Christmas?

I don’t know about you, but nothing lifts my spirits more than storefronts all dressed up for Christmas, twinkly lights, holiday music, and yes, even a little snow!   Last week we told you about the filming for Ice Wine Christmas that is happening right now in Downtown Orangeville, many of you have even been approached to have your storefronts included in the film – this is fantastic publicity! We all know that Downtown Orangeville is a beautiful place to be but having a production company recognize it too is extra special and certainly something to brag about!   We will continue to share your social media posts about the filming until it wraps up on Saturday and encourage members of the public to come on down to see what all the excitement is about.   Don’t forget to tag us in your posts!  Facebook: @downtownorangeville  | Instagram @downtownoville.

New Gathering Limits in Ontario

This week the Premiere released new gathering limits for Ontario.   The new limit on the number of people allowed to attend an unmonitored private social gathering across the province is:
  • 10 people at an indoor event or gathering (previous limit of 50); or
  • 25 people at an outdoor event or gathering (previous limit of 100).
It is very important to note that these new limits will not apply to events or gatherings held in staffed businesses and facilities, such as bars, restaurants, cinemas, convention centres, banquet halls, gyms, places of worship, recreational sporting or performing art events. Existing rules, including public health and workplace safety measures for these businesses and facilities, continue to be in effect. The new limits apply only to unmonitored and private social gatherings such as parties, dinners, gatherings, BBQs or wedding receptions held in private residences, backyards, parks and other recreational areas. Please see the news release for further information.

#LightUpLive

Photo courtesy of Theatre Orangeville Have you seen the red lights at Theatre Orangeville, several local businesses, and along the medians this week?   This is a special initiative in support of the live entertainment industry, whose workers have been hit especially hard by the pandemic – many still unable to work since March.   Please consider showing your support for those in the live entertainment industry, including our very own Theatre Orangeville, by placing a poster in your window and/or adding a red light to your storefront display. More information can be found here. Light Up Live Poster
