On April 24, 2012 Town of Orangeville presented annual Environmental Sustainability Awards for 2012.
Several members of the
Orangeville community were recipients of the Town’s fourth annual sustainability awards this week. The presentations were made at a meeting of Orangeville Council by
Orangeville Mayor Rob Adams and
Councillor Sylvia Bradley. The awards are presented by
Orangeville Town Council on an annual basis to recognize those who have made a positive contribution to the community.
Market on Broadway
Farmers’ markets bring the opportunity to purchase locally grown produce to urban residents.
Orangeville’s own farmers’ market, Market on Broadway, is no exception. Every Saturday from May to October,
Orangeville residents have the opportunity to meet, mix and mingle while buying locally grown fresh produce and homemade goods.
Market on Broadway provides a space for the County of Dufferin to distribute compost from the green bin program. Social connectivity and local and nutritious food are key aspects of a sustainable community. The award was accepted by
Market Manager Christine Patton of the
Orangeville Business Improvement Area.
