Orangeville Business Improvement Area (OBIA) – Orangeville, ON

Position: Member Ambassador

Location: Hybrid / Downtown Orangeville, Ontario

Terms:

  • Part-time, Contract / Reports to General Manager
  • 7-month contract expiring Dec. 31, 2022, with possible option to renew
  • 10-20 hours per week, some flexibility in work hours
  • Occasional early morning, evening and weekend work required

Rate of Pay: $18/hour

Job Summary:

The Downtown Orangeville BIA Member Ambassador is a customer facing role and the first point of contact for the BIA and its business members. The Member Ambassador is responsible for all aspects of member engagement, provides in-person and remote member support, and assists the OBIA team with member, marketing, administrative and event support duties.

Main Duties include:

  • Establishing and maintaining positive and proactive relationship with members, including regular in-person visits
  • Proving exceptional Member support – Respond to member inquires and concerns in a timely, personable, professional manner through email, phone, or in person
  • Managing Member lists, contacts, and directory by providing updates to Administrator
  • Managing Member communications – newsletter creation & circulation, email campaigns, Facebook group, online surveys, physical delivery of member and marketing materials
  • Other Duties include (but are not limited to):
  • Coordinating member socials and other member meetings
  • Researching and implementing creative strategies for member engagement
  • Staying current and sharing small business news, opportunities, supports, and trends
  • Coordinating member activations at events and support general event operations
  • New member onboarding including organizing and delivering welcome gifts, maintaining and sharing welcome packages
  • Providing basic social media support to Marketing Strategist, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tic Tok
  • Providing basic social media support to members
  • Developing new strategies for promoting downtown Orangeville
  • Market research through creating & launching surveys and analyzing response to generate data
  • Attending webinars and educational opportunities and sharing information as appropriate
  • Supporting and attending member events as Member Ambassador/BIA representative
  • General office duties

Qualifications: University degree, college diploma, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field, 2+ years’ experience preferred · Well acquainted with Orangeville and the downtown business area

  • Proven skills in interpersonal relations, communications, public relations, membership management, customer relations, and customer service
  • Enjoy meeting with and engaging new people
  • Professional, engaging writing skills
  • Strong composure with ability to remain calm under pressure, listen, and provide solutions
  • Demonstrated success in project management
  • Ability to distribute materials in a downtown setting and to provide physical event operation support including lifting to approx. 30lbs
  • Experience liaising with management and government preferred
  • Strong problem solving, human relations, time management, and organizational skills
  • Proficient in MS Office; website, social media and Constant Contact experience preferred
  • Experience managing a small business and/or customer service management preferred but not essential
  • Must be available occasional evenings and weekends, including some mandatory event dates
  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions for the purposes of deliveries and event support
  • Driver’s license and ability to travel locally for work related functions preferred
