Job Summary

The Downtown Orangeville BIA Membership Ambassador is a customer facing role and is the first point of contact for BIA for members. The role provides in person member services and administrative support to the BIA. The position reports to the General Manager.

Duties include:

Member services:

  • Relationship development – establish and maintain positive and proactive relationships with members, including a set cycle of in person visits to members
  • Member support – manage member inquiries & concerns in a timely, personable and professional manner and liaison with members and/or Town staff through email, phone and in person to provide first contact resolution
  • New member onboarding – new member kit, Downtown Orangeville orientation and services offered by BIA to members’ business model
  • Member database management – update the member database, membership reporting
  • Member communications – newsletter creation support & circulation, email campaigns; analyse open rate and build strategy to increase organic readership , online surveys, physical delivery of member and marketing materials
  • Meeting planning – Member socials
  • Event activations – coordinate member activations at events, support event operations & promotions, manage logistic arrangement for member events, improve event participation and promotion through gathering & analysing post event feedback from members and public, attendance at events is required (incl. evenings and weekends)
  • Digital updates - Provide webmaster with member directory, member events & specials, maintain relevant social media posts/updates on popular platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to increase followers
  • Implementing ideas & plans suggested by board and task force committee
  • Market research through creating & launching surveys and analyzing response to generate data
  • Attending webinars and information sharing with management, members and task force
  • Supporting and attending member/community events as Member Ambassador/BIA representative, focus on building community connections for BIA
  • Providing basic social media support to members upon request

Administration:

  • General office duties – database & file management
  • Monthly reports
  • Volunteers – maintain volunteer database and recruit for BIA events as required.
  • Research grants to match with BIA mandate and match with any existing or new projects
  • Research, present and implement creative strategies to promote downtown Orangeville and member engagement 
  • General office and housekeeping duties as required from time to time

Qualifications:

  • University degree or college diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field, 2+ years’ experience preferred
  • Proven skills in interpersonal relations, communications, public relations, membership management, customer relations, and service skills – enjoy meeting with and engaging new people, good at determining issues and providing resolution
  • Strong composure – able to remain calm under pressure, listen, and provide creative solutions
  • Demonstrated success in project management and use of LEAN techniques to bring process efficiency
  • Ability to perform physical duties as required for distribution of materials and event operations
  • Experience in liaising with all levels of management, public, and government
  • Strong problem solving, human relations, time management and organizational skills
  • Must be available occasional evenings and weekends, including some mandatory event dates
  • Work experience in a not for profit organization and in customer service roles preferred
  • Driver’s license, access to a vehicle and ability to travel for work related functions preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office; website, social media, Constant Contact and SEO experience preferred
